Cheap beer, good people, and great wings.

The Olde Mill Inn doesn’t announce that it’s a great wing joint from the road. When you walk in though you can tell this is a place that takes wings seriously. They even had a chalk board that showed how many wings they sold in 2009 and how many they’ve sold so far in 2010. I haven’t seen that before.

My brother-in-law introduced me to the owner, Rob, right away. You can tell Rob is into food and into owning this joint. He even had jokes. Throughout our visit he would stop over by us and ask us how we liked the wings and would shoot the shit for a few minutes. You have to like a place where the owner makes you feel like you’re a regular even on your first visit.

On to the wings. It was their wing night and they had .30 cent wings. Perfect. We ordered all the flavors he had available, which were BBQ, Spicy BBQ, Buffalo, and Teriyaki.

The buffalo sauce was typical fare, but still very good. You can’t go wrong with a classic buffalo sauce if the wing is done right. The BBQ and Spicy BBQ again were good and satisfying. The real standout here though in my mind was the Teriyaki. I’m usually not a huge fan of Teriyaki sauced wings, but these are now an exception. Rob told us the difference is the Teriyaki is a glaze and not a sauce. A glaze is usually a glossy more sweet sauce, and that’s exactly what this was. The sauce/glaze was really dang good. The only way they could have better for me is if somehow he snuck some heat in there. ;)

After our initial round of wings, Adam ordered up a second round. At that point I was too full (of both wings and beer) to continue. That didn’t stop him though. He ended up eating an uncomfortable amount, but was proud of himself. Good job Adam. I think we ended up polishing off 75 or so wings.

The wings themselves were also spot on. They are a breaded wing though and not naked. However this breading is done right. The breading isn’t too thick, like some places tend to be, and it definitely added an enjoyable crispiness. The wings were also a good size. Bigger then most chains but not big obnoxious.

I think we all agreed that we came away very impressed with Rob’s Olde Mill Inn. The prices were right, the owner and staff friendly, wings were the perfect size, crispiness, and the sauces were above average, the Teriyaki being exceptional. We’ll all be making stops there again in the near future.

I apologize for the crappy cell phone pics again but I didn’t have my camera with me. :(

Just so you know, you can get the wings naked if you ask. It’s just not advertised as an option.
