On a recent trip down to Chicago for the International Motorcycle Show, we made a little detour to WingStop over near Concordia College. I’ve never heard of the place but I guess it’s a chain. It was in a strip mall so it wasn’t the biggest place in the world but it was PACKED. People coming in and out, phone ringing off the hook, you would think it would be chaos. But it was pretty organized. We ordered 75 wings and some ranch dressing. We got A GALLON of ranch which I though was kind of funny. The flavors we ordered were Lemon Pepper, Parmesan Garlic, Cajun, and Hot.

Figuring there were so many people and our huge order of wings, we thought it was going to take longer than it really did. About 20ish minutes and we headed out with a huge tray of wings and our gallon of ranch.
The lemon pepper to me wasn’t what I expected. It really didn’t have much peppery flavor. Lots of lemon. I really didn’t like it by itself so I had to dip it in ranch, which I rarely if ever do. The were OK at best. The parmesan garlic were pretty good. They were a dry type of wing with actual parmesan cheese sprinkled on it which I liked. All in all a good wing, but I personally like BW3’s sauce better. The Cajun were really really good. The heat was great and the flavor was outstanding. Our friend Matt, who came with us, agreed with me when I said that it seemed like the first one you ate was really spicy but the rest after were fine. By far my favorite of the day and might just be the best Cajun flavored sauce I personally have ever had. The hot was a great sauce as well. Great heat, good flavor, and just in itself a good wing. It was the kind of sauce that would go great on almost anything. The price wasn’t bad for the amount of wings we got. I really don’t have any complaints about the place itself other than the place could be bigger. I would go back if I were in the area.

What a great day is all I can say. Great bikes, great people, and some good food. I was a reall fan of the Cajun and the Hot. I was able to have Wingstop wings down in Texas when I was visiting my brother so I was somewhat familiar. The Lemon Pepper was OK. As said I was expecting more pepper and less lemon but it was still edible. The Garlic Parmesan was probably one of my favorite wings. I’m not usually a fan of the Parmesan Garlic sauce and in my opinion it should be a dry wing, which these were. Cajun was very VERY good. Since Wingstop I seem to put Cajun on everything! The hot wing was good but it was pretty comparable to every other Hot wing. Hot with lots of flavor.

Wing size was OK. Nothing like were used to but nothing terribly small. The Gallon of ranch was quite interesting, never seen a place do that but for 75 wings it was way to much.

All in all I would go back to Wingstop if I was in the area, but I wouldn’t make a trip just to go there. Great wings but the store front was quite small, maybe enough room for 20 people. Make it a little bigger and it will be a great place to go get some wings and beer.

There is actually a wing stop in kenosha as well. Their frys are awesome when paired with cheese. There used to be one in Racine but it was closed down.

I believe it was a WingStop when I lived down in Pensacola, it was almost ten years ago. We frequented the place and really liked it.

Next time I’m down there I’ll have to stop by and give them a try.

other than the windows having to be down most of the ride home, i’d give those wings a B+/A-. good size, good amount of chicken. the Hot wasn’t hot enough for my taste. the cajun was was great, but again, not very hot. wasn’t really a fan of the other two because of the dry rub style rather than a sauce. the they did have flavor. i think watching the ‘sights’ during our meal was the best part.

I love Wingstop for their Hickory Smoked BBQ flavor! The hot is good, the cajun is too hot for me, and I’m not a fan of the parmesan or lemon pepper flavors… but the BBQ is fantastic! Slightly sweet, definitely has some kick, and goes great with their fries. No ranch/etc required :)

    Love the site Mel!
