A group of friends and I took a little road trip up to Tomahawk and Crandon, Wi for the weekend for a little get away and to go to the off-road races at Crandon Int’l Off Road Raceway.  The get-away, I think really did us all a lot of good. No police sirens, stupid kids with loud mufflers and subwoofers. Just the sound of the lake, Greg talking to the loons, and the crackle of a fire.  When we weren’t at the track listening to 800Hp off road trucks getting sideways and doing 90.

On our way home we all got hungry.  NATURALLY we all said “Lets find somewhere for wings”.  So in Stevens Point we found a place called Mitchells Hilltop Pub & Grill. The front door is a HUGE  old wooden beer barrel. How freakin cool is that? We got there at around 3ish and were sat outside on the patio. It was only the 5 of us out there so of course we just goofed off. Especially Greg since he started drinking at around 10am. If you know Greg, then yeah, you need no explanation. TO THE WINGS!!!!!

They only have 4 flavors; Original, Hot, Tequila BBQ and Inferno. You have your choice of traditional and boneless and they come in 6, 12 and 20 wing portions.  So I order 20 with half original and half hot. Dan gots 20 with half Tequila BBQ and half original, and Danny gets  12 boneless with 6 Inferno and 6 Tequila BBQ.  Greg and Kim got salads(FAIL!!!).  The size of the traditional was way above average. Great big wings with a lot of chicken on them. The doneness was phenomenal. Crispy skin without being dried out. PERFECT in my opinion. The boneless were very meaty. Not like the hunks of breaded chicken you get at BW3’s.

Boneless Wings

The Original sauce has got to be one of my new favorite sauces of all time. Such a great flavor to heat ratio. I could have eaten another 10 right there it was so good. I wish they would sell that sauce in bottles because I would have gotten 3 to take home with me. The Hot sauce was a phenomenal sauce as well. A little bit hotter than the original w/ what I would say to have more of a Tabasco flavor to it. Still a great flavor and a great sauce. The Tequila BBQ was kind of a disappointment. It was a dark/sweet sauce. Lots of tanginess to it but with no heat to me.  Almost like a cross between a Sweet BBQ and a Teriyaki wing.  The Inferno was F****n’ HOT.  Had the kind of flavor and heat that kind of bit your taste buds.  Nothing like Quaker Steaks Atomic wings which were just retarded hot. These you could still eat. Danny had tears in his eyes from the heat, but he man’d up and ate them all.

I can’t say enough about this place. The food was great, menu was huge, service was excellent, and the place itself was all in all a WIN.  Not to mention that all the waitresses that work there are cute. I know because I observed and then I even asked our waitress Erica.  She just looked at me and without hesitation said “ Yep. All of us”. FREAKIN SWEET!!!.  We all plan on many more trips up north over the next couple months and Mitchells Hilltop Pub & Grill will always be on our list of places to stop either on our way up or on our way home.

Ill post pics as soon as I get them from Kim

UPDATE: ROUND 2 – July 25th 2010

On our way back from Tomahawk again we stopped back. Same great wings. Same cute waitresses. Kim and Greg DIDNT fail this time and got wings.
