--Dave’s Review–

Following the demise of our planned trip to Wings Etc in Illinois, a bunch of us figured we would just hit somewhere local.  Throwing around names of places, Tailgators in Sussex came up.  But that’s where the plan stopped after Mel, Hayes, Heman and I hit up Johnny Hammers in West Allis that Saturday.  But some of the rest of the crew that didn’t make it Saturday still wanted wings.  So again Tailgators came up and the following Tuesday we me up in Sussex for their 25cent wing night.

Ok, after the bullshit wings I had at SportsZone, I never think a 25cent wing will ever be good. But I was proven wrong.  They had 11 sauces on the menu (Teriyaki, Bourbon BBQ, Honey BBQ, Jack Daniels BBQ, Medium, Thai Chili, Spicy BBQ, Jamaican Jerk, Mango Habanero, Inferno and Asskicking) and one sauce not on the menu, which was their hottest, called Hell Fire.  The crew consisted of Hayes, Jer, Weezy, Danny, Kim and myself. And between us we tried most of the sauces. We pondered trying the Hell Fire but after what happened at Leff’s Luckytown we were all not into the thought of blowing fire out our asses the next day.  We all kind of felt like vaginas when we found out a 12 year old kid ate 10 Hell Fire though.

I had the Honey BBQ, Madium and Thai Chili. This honey bbq was probably the best honey bbq ive ever had on a wing. Ill just leave it at that. The medium was a good sauce. Little bit of spice with good flavor. The Thai Chili stood out to me. The combination of sweetness with that backdoor spice just did it for me. wasnt to hot where it overpowered the sweetness.  It was my favorite of the three i ordered.

After discussing at the table about all the different sauces, we all thought that there really wasn’t a disappointment. The Mango Habanero brought tears to Danny. The Medium made Weezy sweat, but so does Bdubs medium so that not surprising. Hayes had the Inferno and said it was great and had a backdoor kick in the face of hotness. The doneness was pretty damn good on the wings themselves.  The size of the wings was a little bit bigger than average and the “wing-to-sauce ratio” was pretty damn good in my opinion.

Tailgators to me is a great place for wings. You normally can’t go wrong with a 25cent wing(except SportZone) but this place is well worth it.  Six people, a whole lot of wings, and drinks for everyone was $60. Can’t beat that. Not to mention the friendly, fun and overall superb service we got from our waitress will have me and my friends coming back in the future.

– Jer’s Review–

Decided to try the Jack Daniel’s BBQ, even though I generally don’t like BBQ, I do love Jack Daniel’s. Have to say I was a bit disappointed in the sauce. It was quite salty and very syrupy, not bad tasting but nothing great.
For my second choice I went with the Mango Habanero because I do like that flavor at other wing locations. While the flavor was good, they were waaay hotter than your standard issue Mango Habanero. Good yes, but a bit more than I was expecting. Overall I’d get them again, with different expectations.
Lastly, I went with a general favorite; “Medium.” For what it is, it had a good flavor and just the right heat I think a medium should have.
The wings themselves were a very good size, and cooked very well. I would consider the “doneness” to be above average. Also, the waitress could not have done a better job with all of our needs. I’d go back for sure.
