I got wind of Bullwinkles Brookfield from my mother’s boyfriend Kevin one day when he sent me a text asking if I’ve ever been there. I replied “No I haven’t. Why?”. When he told me they have a large wing sauce selection, I jumped onto my porn/facebook box and used it for something other than (prn) to google the place up.

Bullwinkles in Brookfield is located at 20290 w Bluemound Road in the same building that housed Panos Char House. From what I understood, Joe Panos decided to take the joint in a different direction and changed it up into what is now, an awesome sports bar. This is the perfect place to come and watch a football game, the final four, or UFC fight. It seemed like anywhere you sat you would have a good view of one of the seemingly endless sea of high-def TV screens. Like any sports bar, the walls at Bullwinkles Brookfield are covered in memorabilia, pictures, and a big ol’ moose head that you can’t miss when you walk into the joint. You know a place is going to kick ass when they have a moose head on the wall.

The crew that night consisted of myself, Hayes, Danny, his girlfriend Kim, and Mr. Collura. We were also accompanied by our friends Bart, his son Gage, Dan’s friend Ashley and her friend _______ (I forgot her name). We called ahead to make sure we could get a table for so many people, which was no problem. When Hayes and I arrived at Bullwinkles Brookfield we walked right up to the bar to get some beers while we waited for the rest of the crew to arrive. Its should be noted, I like my beer super cold. But when you go to bars, sometimes the beer isn’t as cold as I prefer. Not Bullwinlkles. My beer was cooler then Samual L Jackson reciting Ezekiel 25:17. I knew I was going to be in for a good night.

The rest of our motley crew arrived and we sit down at our table and scanned the menu. You can order up wings by either 10, 20 or 30 and mix up a couple of sauces. It also happened to be Bullwinkles Brookfield “wing night” so wings were half off which made everyone’s bellies and wallets happy. With all of our orders it seemed like we covered most of the sauces. Our waitress said it would be a little while for our wings since we had such a large order, but we were having so much fun it didn’t seem like it took long at all. A couple beers later our wings arrive, and man were we excited.

The wings themselves were piping hot, just hot I like them. The first thing I noticed was that they were a little on the small side. I didn’t think anyone else seemed to mind since they didn’t say anything, but that was my initial impression. You can tell they were just deep fried and not grilled in any sort of way by the  crispiness of the skin. The sauces I ordered were Hawaiian Heat, Sweet Thai Chili, Premium Garlic and BBQ Sante Fe Ranch. The Hawaiian Heat was a sweet sauce that had fruity notes (listen to us using fancy terms) with a little bit of heat to it. Not too much for me but it may be a lot to someone who doesn’t eat hot food. But it had such a good flavor I really didn’t care and happened to be my personal favorite that night.  The sweet Thai Chili was great. Kind of seems like something you would order from Chinese take-out if they had wings. The BBQ-Sante Fe Ranch was also very, very good. It was it’s own kind of BBQ flavor. Not hot, kind of tangy, just plain good. PERIOD. A couple of us ordered it and everyone seemed to to really dig’em. Danny also ordered up some of the boneless wings. But boneless wings aren’t really wings are they?? Just sort of glorified chicken nuggets. But I digress, they were fantastic. Not too breaded to where you bite into a chunck of crispy breading and get no chicken, but just enough to soak up some of the delicious sauces.

Then there is the sauce at the top of the heat scale. Nuclear Infected. Sounds pretty intimidating right? But we had to try it. So myself, Danny, Hayes and Bart manned up and tried this menacing sauce. After we bit into our wings we were all kind of disappointed. Wheres the neucular infection? I mean, it was hot. But nothing to write a on your facebook wall about. Fast forward about 5-10 minutes. We were all scrambling for our waters. This was a backdoor kick you in the balls type of heat. None of us saw it coming. It crept up on us like Charlie Sheen in Platoon. But unlike other really hot sauces places have, the sauce was really good.

So all in all, Bullwinkles Brookfield is awesome. In my personal opinion, the wings were a little on the small side, but aren’t the smallest I’ve ever had. But the sauces were FANTASTIC and the service we had was even better. Our waitress was more than helpful with everything we asked for and we really appreciated it. You would be hard pressed to find a better place to come and watch a Packer/Badger/Brewers Game or UFC fight in the area. So gather up your group of friend, or wrangle up the family and head out to Bullwinkles Brookfield. Eat some wings, drink some beers (root beer fo the kids of course), watch the game and relax.
