Summerfest 2011 – Best Wings

Tags: , ,

Does Summerfest have a nice variety of amazing wings or was this just a wild goose chase? We brought the whole gang down to Summerfest 2011 with cameras rolling to find out.

aWingThing does summerfest 2011Summerfest is one of the great things about living in this great city on the shores of Lake Michigan. We’re cooped up all Winter long and once the weather gets nice it seems like everything shifts to the out doors. At the end of June and the World’s Largest Music festival kicks off just when the weather is gettin’ real good in Milwaukee. Henry Maier Park spans 75 acres running along the beautiful shoreline of Lake Michigan. Through the course of two weeks, over 700 bands like Lady Antebellum, The Beach Boys, Aerosmith, and Lupe Fiasco will take to the 11 stages to rock out until you can’t rock out any more. More beer will be consumed under the sun then other cities probably drink in a year. This is a real tradition in Milwaukee and I’ve been going since I was knee high to a grasshopper.

But this isn’t a beer or music or Mel history website now is it? You want to know about wings. So we got the whole crew together, got us some media passes, went in with our video and camera crew and went on a hunt for the Best Wing at Summerfest. We didn’t know what to expect really. Were the wings going to suck? Were there going to be 2-3 places that even had wings? Or would we be surprised by the amount of wings. Check out the video below to see what we found out, just in time for Summerfest 2012. Now you’ll know where to go to get the best wings when The Big Gig kicks off on Wednesday.

Unfortunately, a couple weeks after we filmed this we lost our friend Nick “Sol” Amezquita in a tragic motorcycle accident. This was actually the last thing I got to do with him. So this video is sort of bitter sweet for me and the rest of the gang. But please enjoy.
